Not a lot of guitar building going on what with Christmas and a death in the family, it's been a bit of a bad start to 2021.
Hoever I will start again in March.

Just checked, my last entry into this journal was in May, 6 months, time fly's.
So, not a lot is happening at the moment and probably wont until the New Year, I have other things that I have to do, so the guitars will have to wait. Den I was asked recently to clean and set up this very nice blue Epiphone Les Paul, so having checked it over I saw that it needed a set-up, fret dress and neck clean, and a little polish of the body.
It now looks new and plays beautifully. Heres a little something I have been working on since Christmas, have not been very active in the workshop a lot this year but the spring has sprung and it looks like summer may even rear is head at some point.
So, I decided to do something a little different this time, original plan was for a 7 string, but thought I had better see if a could make a decent job of this design first, so far, so good, I think? Anyway, body is about 80% done, just covered it in a sanding sealer, now to fill any small dings and dents, then a sand then paint, I am sort of thinking about a metal flake finish, I had the idea of a nebula sort of paint job, but I am no artist so a one shot colour its gonna be, thinking, Blue, Red, or just plain Silver, just will have to wait and see how the mood takes me when I get to painting it. Starting on the neck over Easter so fingers crossed, necks are my weak point, but I am gonna go for something a little different with the head stock. Piccies below of where I am at this point. For those interested, I got the plans from the internet, they were free, if I can remember the site I will post it on here. It's finally happened, I have been asked to do a weekly radio show at the college, so go check it out, it a conspiracy show, but my drive time show has some great guitar tracks on it and in the very near future I hope to have some young and up and coming guitarists on the show.
Link to my radio website: www.drden.co.uk My son got me this Squire Stratocaster for Christmas, I said about a month ago that I needed to build a black guitar. On Christmas day he gave me this, so I decided to upgrade it a bit, neck check, fret dress, isolating the hollows, changing the scratch plate, original Fender pickups and set-up to fender specs. It now looks fantastic and plays incredibly well for a beginners guitar. Thanks Jack. Next week i shall start on my Ibanez jewel, cant use gem, so jewel it is.
Things have been quiet in the shop recently due to me being unwell, however, I intend to return to the workshop this weekend, lots of things to catch up on, I am really looking forward to it, watch this space for an update.
